Proud lesbian, published poet, lover, activist, womon, and staunch advocate of the #SayHerName movement. Educated formally at university, educated informally by living - "politics are my life." Raised in an activist household, and carrying on the legacy of her parents and theirs before them. Allen has marched, protested, and organized across the United States (including Ferguson, Missouri; Jena, Louisiana; Philadelphia; New York; Florida; Yankton Sioux Tribal lands in Lake Andes, South Dakota; Washington, D.C.; Virginia; Palm Beach County; and more). "Living, breathing, and being comfortable in all intersectional aspects of my life (Black, Lesbian, STEM/AG) is an act of daily defiance I plan on continuing." Allen was one of the founding members of the Black Women Rise conference, and has been on the keynote panel both years.
