REV. DR. CHARMAYNE DAVIS

Rev. Dr. Charmayne Davis has more than 22 years in ministry. Ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she holds degrees from Tennessee State University and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Her work with children in Kentucky resulted in the birth of the Freedom School Initiative for at-risk children. (In 2007, the Rev. Charmayne G. Davis Freedom School was named in her honor.) As a female minister, Rev. Dr. Davis experienced years of sexual harassment by senior clergy, and she’s spent years exposing those subjects that the church would like to keep silent. Her doctoral research on “Clergy Sexual Misconduct in the African Methodist Episcopal Church” has generated ongoing conversation throughout the faith-based community. Rev. Dr. Davis currently resides in southeast Florida, where she continues her work through the Inner Truth Project.
